Breaking Drought

Cloud banks on shimmering horizons tower as they slowly build to full fill the drought breaking promise of that needed rain
Dry cracked earth so long parched by the endless beating of the Sun building cloudbanks gift of rains they wait and hope to gain
So many seasons stacked together like pages from a book the hidden seeds did wait for rains as nature she did train
Thunder rumbles distant and yet for so long now unheard as if heralding that the so long hidden seeds they did not wait in vain
For even through the worst of droughts the people of the land know of those rains that come again
Through the hardship, livestock gone and rivers turned to dust as in our food bowl plain
Now the cloud banks shimmer as they gather tower build and fullfill that promise of the end of drought and its breaking rain
